The Growchapel Allotment Association (GAA) is a community-led project in the heart of Drumchapel, Glasgow. We aren't just a collection of garden plots; we are a welcoming, inclusive site where everyone belongs.
At the GAA, the only boxes are the ones growing plants, and the only labels are used to identify our crops. We believe in the power of growing your own food to improve mental and physical wellbeing, and we pride ourselves on being a space where diversity and creativity are valued and respected.
Managed by a volunteer committee of local plotholders, the GAA is a place for sharing knowledge, from experienced gardeners to those picking up a trowel for the first time. We work together to maintain our communal spaces, harvest rainwater, and celebrate our successes at our regular site events.
We work closely with Glasgow City Council to ensure our site remains a sustainable green lung for the area, and we are proud members of the National Allotment Society.
The Growchapel Allotment Association (GAA) was formally established and constituted by the current Committee. We are a dedicated group of volunteers elected to ensure the site remains a safe, inclusive, and productive environment for all in partnership with Glasgow City Council.

We work in close collaboration with Glasgow City Council to maintain this vital green space. As a formally constituted body, the GAA is a member of the National Allotment Society (NAS), ensuring our plotholders are supported by national expertise and legal guidance.
While the GAA was formally constituted in July 2025, we recognise that the Growchapel site has a history of community gardening.
We would like to extend our thanks to the various individuals and groups who looked after the plots and contributed to the site’s life in previous years.
Their passion for the land helped pave the way for the formal Association we have today.
With Thanks to the Site Pioneers
We wouldn't be here without the dedication of those who looked after these plots in the years before the GAA was formally constituted.

We also thank every volunteer who has picked up a spade or helped at the gates since the very first plots were dug.
When the first plotholders arrived they were given a totebag, with seeds and this booklet and you can read via the link. It has great ideas for growing.
