At Growchapel, we are incredibly proud of our site. It is more than just land; it is a sanctuary for wellbeing and a home for nature. To keep our community thriving and to ensure we are fulfilling our promise to Glasgow City Council, we carry out Quarterly Plot Reviews.
A Supportive Approach These reviews aren't about "policing" your space or catching you out. Instead, they are a chance for us to ensure the land is healthy, safe, and productive for everyone. Think of it as a seasonal check-in to make sure every "wee piece of Glasgow" is being loved and looked after.
We aim to conduct our seasonal check-ins quarterly. While we strive to carry these out around the 10th of the month, these dates are subject to change based on weather, site conditions, and the availability of our partners at Glasgow City Council.
Our typical schedule:
August: Summer Growth
October: Late Season & Harvest
Janurary: Winter Maintenance
May: Spring Preparation
Members will be notified via the site noticeboard or email if a review date is moved significantly.
If you are a new member, don’t worry! We know it takes time to turn a plot into a garden. We work on a sliding scale over your first nine months to give you plenty of time to find your feet and get your hands in the soil.
We know that life isn't always easy. If you are going through a difficult time, whether it’s health, family, or work and your plot is falling behind, please talk to us. Our first response is always to offer a conversation and see how we can help. We would much rather lend a hand or offer a word of encouragement than send a formal notice.
"We are all stewards of this beautiful space. By looking after our own plots, we look after each other."
